I've ahd this twice: once on a 400 slot load iMac: the battery was dead
and a second time on a dual 500 G4 PowerMac. The PM had the plastic
piece missing from the middle of one of the built in USB ports. When
something is not plugged in square, it'll short and bring the box down.
Bringing it up from col makes it come on, then shut down abruptly.
Plugged in carefully in the good port, it works great.
Just my two experiences...
