A Radeon 7000 ME is a fine card, and will speed video up noticeably over the Rage card. I have one in my beige. I like it.

It depends on how long you intend on keeping it and your reasons for upgrading the video in the first place.
Will it noticeably improve video performance over my current Rage 128?
Yes.
Will I have to troubleshoot other problems, such as firmware updating or some such?
No.
I use Panther and have 896 MB RAM, and have added a large internal hard drive and fast internal CD/RW/DVD player to the tower, so if I can manage better video the computer would still serve me well until I can afford a new one.
You can get a Radeon 7000 ME cheaper than the 9200, certainly.
