Hello,
I'm tryimg to transfer data from my G3-mt using OS 10.2.8 to an eMac using OS 10.3. I followed instructions previously given to me and I turned on apple talk and file sharing (tcp/ip was already on) on both computers. I set them up with ethernet set up instead of internet. The other HD did not show up. However, something wierd happened to my eMac. When I click on any icon in the dock, it doesn't open. A note appears saying "show in finder".
If I click on the mouse in the middle of the screen, A block of notes appear:
New folder
Get info
Change desktop background
etc.
A little square appears attached to the mouse arrow. The only way to get rid of the note is to click on file in the menu. If I click on the hd icon, it doesn't open. The note shows up and the first item is the word "open". I have to click on it to open the hd. What has happened?
Somehow, your system is either seeing your clicks as a right click with the right mouse button or seeing the control key help down.
Do you have a 2 button mouse with its own control panel? It may have settings to reverse the buttons for lefties (right button becomes the click and the left button becomes the "control click". Check the control panel.
Check the control keys on your keyboard. Do both of them work fine? Try working them up and down a few times to see if that helps. Try restarting your system and see if that clears things up>

I brought the picture up on the monitar and hit the control key a couple of times and the problem seems to have resolved itself. The mouse is an apple mouse and appears to be just a simple click type.
