It's not that hazardous: the bad apples were kicked off the list but they'd been banned a time or two previously and snuck back on again with new names and email addresses. That's why the list was closed. I'm not a fixture there, just sub and unsub from time to time when in the market for something -- but happened to be subscribed when the ban went into effect, so am hanging on (and deleting an awful lot of postings) to maintain access for the future.
