It'll be another couple of weeks before I can swap my "new" logic board & PSU into my beige G3 MT, but while I'm thinking of it...

What length of IDE cable is best used, to avoid unplugging them from the logic board, every time I open the case? I'm not sure (don't remember) what length IDE cables are in there now, but I have 2 HDDs on one channel, and my CD-RW and zip drive on the other. In my self-built Wintel box, I went with 24" round cables, but of course that case is easier to get into. Would 24" round cables be long enough for my beige G3 MT, so they don't unplug when I open the case?

Matt

Round cables might be a problem because the cable has to fit flat behind and above the power supply and a flat one must actually fold back over itself once to go in the right direction. The DT models are even worse. Round cables have that thick boot-like insulation near the ends that may not be thin enough. On a beige MT the cable does not have to be very long at all to get to the upper drive bay /CD/floppy area if you go flat against the backside of the power supply and up and over the way they originally came. 12" to the first connector should be plenty with a flat cable. Round might work but it seemed pretty tight back there IIRC. I use round SCSI but from a controller card.
