I am moving my husband from an older machine to a G4/450 Dual
Processor. Yeah, I know, that is not a new machine either, but a mini
is out of the question right now. Everything has gone smoothly except
for setting up wireless access in OS 9.2.2. Although most day to day
stuff will be done in OS 10.3.9, he will work in OS 9 from time to
time, because of a CAD program that has no reasonably priced OS X
alternative.
We have an Asante wireless router, with a print server. The G4 has an
internal Airport Card installed. Wireless works flawlessly in OS X.
However, I can not get past entering the WEP key in OS 9. I get an
error message telling me the password was incorrect. I am using a 26
character Hexadecimal password. I have tried adding a dollar sign to
the front of the password, as well as using quotation marks. If I turn
off WEP in the router the Airport Card connects without problems.
Are there other hex escapes I can try? Or does anyone have any other
suggestions?
Nancy
