Even tho the techs from these companies say the keyboards can't be
re-mapped or re-programmed....you're saying they can?? (see below)
That's wonderful!
Is there anyone in the Seattle/Bellevue, WA area that could do this?

I want to tell you that it can be remapped, but it cannot. Both
segments of the space bar use the same key code and cannot be changed.
Also, if you remapping with software, it couldn't tell the difference
between the two sides.
As I mentioned before, our layout has many differences that might
provide you especially other benefits, such as variable width key caps.
This is where the keys on the outside and top of each of the two
typing pads are larger. Making them easier to hit with angled typing
padss. This may assist you with your condition. Also, the keys are in
columns, meaning they spread much like your fingers spread, also a help
for many users.

I would suggest that you buy any divided space bar keyboard you like the
price of, give it to a competent electronic serviceman and ask him to
disconnect the left space bar key from the PC board and add it to the
delete
key so they both delete.
Voila ! your dream keyboard.
I used to be able to do this kind of stuff till my eyes went bad.
Maybe someone on the list can do this for you.

On the subject of re-mapping the space bar (split) to have forward and
back spaces...
have you thought of re-mapping the left Command key? You'd still have
the right one...
