This is wrong. FAT16 supports up to 2 Gigs. I forget...have you tried reformatting it on the Mac? What happens if you try disk repair on the mac? --- end of quote --- My 512 CF card works fine in a usb 2 multi reader. Don't bother with disk utility...it won't do FAT 16 drives. If you plan to use the cf for data only, it wouldn't be a bad ideaa to format it on the Mac. Then I believe the Dissk Utility would repair it. But if you intend to use it in a camera, format it in the camera and forget about using Mac for repairs, though you can recover photos from a currupt drive. I reformat my cards in the camera periodically just to make sure all is well. I do occasionally use a camera CF for data but the Mac adds hidden files to the card. Not always healthy. Especailly if you delete files in the computer on a card to be used in a camera. Theree are some differences in the way cameras set up cf cards, though there is an industry standard. So if switching cards from camera to camera, or computer to camera, format it in the camera you plan to use it in. Some of this is hearsay, some from vague experience.
