I ran my beige G3 MT dual bootable with OS X 10.2 and OS 9, including
using Classic emulation in X..1 just fine, but I had them loaded on 2
different drives. I had Jaguar installed on the 8GB partition of my
"master" drive, and Classic installed on my "slave" drive. Why it won't
boot from the CD-ROM drive is beyond me. Have you tried any bootable
utilities discs? If you can get it to boot from a disk utility CD, try
running the utility and see if you can't get going again in X. If so,
try installing OS 9.1 or OS 9.2 on the partition. That's the only way to
have both OS's, if your Mac only has one hard disk. If you can't get
back to X, but are able to boot from any bootable CD, you might have to
wipe the drive and start again.
I'll be rooting for ya getting back to X, so you can try OS 9.1 or
higher on the partition.
