Paul, I bought two B&Ws off our auction site that were advertised as having modems and they didn't. I should have gone back to the seller but it was on auction so I guess its buyer beware. I managed to get a modem off a friend who had a B&W and wasn't using the modem. It is like 5 mins and 2 screws - no problems. THe computer detected it and I was able to connect as soon as I restarted - unlike the battles I have had with WIndoze under similar circumstances. I needed 2 modems so the other way I have gone is to get a Stealth Serial Port ($20 off the same auction site) and wonderful Amanda off this list is sending me an external modem that hopefully will be up and running just as easily. Good luck on finding an internal modem as I believe they fit under the same category as reindeer droppings! P.S. I tried to pinch a G4 internal modem that I knew wasn't doing anything on a school G4 tower server, but it was from another planet!
Cheers

I just bought a G3 B&W tower from a shop in Toronto while visiting there. It was sold as having a built-in 56k modem. On arrival the G3 has no modem.

I'm just wondering what the options are for installing the standard modem or attaching an external modem. Can the internal modem be owner installed if obtainable?

Any and all suggestions will be welcome.

Of course I expect the store will make good the missing modem but I don't want to have to send it back there again as I'm on the West Coast.

Thanks

Paul
