Let me see if I have this right: level 2 means the CPU serial number is
disabled, while level 3 means it is _en_abled, yes?

IIRC, Intel originally intended to ship these with the CPU serial number
enabled, until there was a hue and cry about them doing so.

Thankfully, no, they don't.  Although I uneasily recall something about a
CPU serial number scheme to do with the imac.  I don't know if it was ever
implemented, or if it was just something that was talked about.  Anyone?
