While I have fond memories of my old hardware (and software), I must admit that I've pretty much left it behind in favor of modern machines. On the old ones there is always something missing when I try to use them now.
Of course I'm talking about laptops, desktops don't involve so many compromises. With older laptops, however, usually the problem is the screen resolution is too low for web use. I consider 1024X768 about the absolute minimum resolution today if you aren't a big fan of horizontal scrolling (drives me up the wall). The other downside to older laptops is weight and bulk.
