If macs were still running 9x, I probably wouldn't have given it an
honest try. Now, I'll never own another windows PC. The OS is
elegant but simple to use, and has all the power and flexibility of
Unix underneath (for those of us who want to use it).
10.4 is completely stable, I haven't had a single issue with it on my
QuickSilver. I have a Pismo laptop at home that is having issues
recognizing when a CD/DVD is inserted, but otherwise works
wonderfully, wireless networking and all.
Dashboard is neat, but not a necessity. Spotlight on the other hand
is a fantastic tool that once you start using it, you'll wonder how
you lived without it, especially if you have lots of data files and
lots of drive space.
I highly recommend it.
