This is tending to OT, but in going from audio CD to G4 to iPod to car stereo I availed myself of the Dension interface
http://www.densionusa.com/icelink_info.htm ice->Link (non-FM modulation, it's a hard audio port) which allows some steering wheel iPod control and great audio fidelity for long trips. Crutchfield may have a cheaper solution. I threw a lot of money at this. Waiting a bit may see a better solution from Apple. You can write off list if details needed.
