very self-same Mac would show them on all quoted email text (no matter
what program or computer generated it -- all that's needed is to
switch to Outlook (maybe some other programs too, but Outlook is the
only one I'm familiar with) and there they would be. To get rid of
them individually all you have to do is select and delete -- but AFAIK
to strip the lot it's necessary (in Outlook) to copy into a word
processor and use the replace function. Being able to do
find-and-replace directly is certainly a feature in Mail's favor.
I'll give WordService a try.

I know that the ">" gets displayed in "Mail" as a vertical bar, however
sometimes when an email has forwarded through WINTEL machines a number
of times, there are "grater than" placeholders that don't show up in
"Mail" as a bar.
I don't use "Outlook" any longer because Micro-Poop has stopped all
development and will no longer fix problems. SOoooo I don't use it any
more.
I will be one of the first to admit that "OS X" "Mail" a number of
shortcomings, like you can not change the page color, even-though the
menu lets you chose a "Document Color" it just doesn't happen. Also
emails that arrive with animation don't work any more if you forward
them to someone else.
I have a friend that if I forward email to her, she doesn't even see
the XXX.jpg files that I send, but I'm sure that part of that problem
is her ISP! I can not understand why anyone would want to stay with AOL
when there are so many low-cost ISP.
As a second source I use "Thunderbird" for mail and "Firefox" for a
browser.
Let me know what you think of WordService, and did you get MailScripts?
If you can't find MailScripts let me know and I'll find the link.
Best Regards,
Harry (*^_^*)
