Nat,

You'll probably get a number of opinions on this,
here's mine: Based on a number on other people's
experience and recommendations, I've used the ATI
Radeon 7000 Mac Edition in several G3s and have been
happy with it. But depending on how much you want to
spend and how important gaming is to you, the list of
Jaguar-compatible cards from ATI is:
RADEON X800 XT MAC EDITION
RADEON 9800 PRO MAC SPECIAL EDITION
RADEON 9800 PRO MAC EDITION
RADEON 9200 MAC EDITION
RADEON 9000 PRO MAC EDITION
RADEON 8500 MAC EDITION
RADEON 7000 MAC EDITION
RADEON MAC EDITION (similar to the 7000)

The 7000 usually goes for around $50 with shipping
on eBay, some have 32 MB DDR, some have 64 MB, and
some have TV(S-video) and DVI output. The 9800 might
be the best for flat-panel though. ATI has made Mac
video for a long time including as an OEM, so I'm
inclined to trust the odds of their compatiblity than
most.

The Apple site has a firmware flasher for these
NVIDIA graphics cards:
GeForce2 MX
GeForce2 MX TwinView
GeForce3
GeForce4MX.

nVidia site lists these current PCI cards as OSX
compatible:
6200
6600
6800
It seemed a little vague on the 6400, but their
"Go-6" line in general is supposed to work with OSX.
Does anyone know if they have special Mac editions
like ATI? Info on the site didn't appear to say
that... sounded like they were the same hardware.

Good luck! Sounds like you're seriously hotrodding
a Beige, which I'm interested in as well. When you
have a chance to test your machine with its new eyes,
I'd like to hear the results.

Jim
