Hello G-listers:
I have a dual ethernet ABS (old model - about 3 years old) connected
to a cable modem.
Yesterday, it appears to have stopped working with my wirelessly
connected G4 tower / G3 700 iBook, and my daughter's G4 tower.
My son connects his PC to the LAN port and he is not having any problem.
He admitted tinkering with the ABS - but claims ignorance being a PC
person.
Usually when something like this happens, all I have to do is to
disconnect the power and wait for about a minute
to reconnect and my network name reappears under the top menu. This
time it does not.
Re the monitoring lights on ABS:
Light #1 (left) does not flash to indicate any activity via Airport.
Light #3 (right) flashes - indicating activity via Ethernet port and
keeps my son happy.
Light #2 (center) stays lit green - showing ABS has power.
Will a hard or soft reset fix this problem or Is my ABS dying?
Do I need to re-enter everything or is there any easy way to restore
Airport network settings?
I'm getting tired of driving to a local Megabucks - just to check my
email.
Any advice/tip/suggestion will be appreciated.
TIA
Jim
