Hi Folks,

I bought this machine from a friend about 2.5 years ago. How can I tell if the firmware has already been installed?

System Profiler will give you a firmware version code

Apparently not in OSX (couldn't find it).

However, when I booted into OS 9 and went for installing the firmware update, it threw a dialog showing the right firmware version and telling me it was already up to date.

So all of this was moot anyway, ai.e., just an exercise. However, I still want to acknowledge everyone's help, so thanks to all again.

Now I can go and order more memory, start looking over the possibility of switching the mid-plane motherboard to an AGP 533 mHz Audio board (involves some tweaking of the hardware, faster bus -- going from 100 to 133 mHz), then upgrade the CPU from there.

What think ye?

All the best,
Ken N.
