Interesting point. G5's are, in any practical sense, capable of
handling almost unlimited memory (up to 4 terrabytes). It's only the
current maximum combination of slots and available memory sticks that
holds it back (the current technology hasn't come up with more than 1
gb/stick), which could be doubled soon.
I'm betting that, assuming Apple sticks to its commitment, it will only
deliver the 32-bit procs in the lowend machines next year, and
eventually have DP 64-bit procs in the hi-end machines the following
year, with, probably, some in-between iMacs, ummm, in between ;-)
Otherwise, the 64-bit managing capacity of Panther and Tiger would be a
waste. Remember, all OSX were designed to operate with cross-platform
CPU's.
