OK,I need some help.
On my B&W G3/400. 1Gb Ram, I was trying to replace the stock G3
with an PowerLogix G4/500 chip.
To do it, I was to upgrade the firmware. It is running X (10.3) on
it, and I have tried to upgrade the firmware, with no luck,
including trying to run Classic mode.
It starts to run, then says "This update if for a PowerMac G3 only
(I was running the G3/400 chip at the time.
But, that is not the worse part.
Now, I reboot, and the Apple shows for a moment, and then flickers
off. It is replaced by a circle with a line through it.
That is it.
I reset the cuda switch, reset the PRAM, and still no luck
Any ideas what I did to this bad boy?

Took out the X drive.
Hooked up my 9.2 drive.
Put the machine on the network (I was using a generic Airport card in
X) and connected to the internet.
Got the G3 Firmware update and ran it. It reports that the firmware
it up to date.
Reboot in 9.2, (G3/400) all is well.
Switch the G4/PowerLogix Chip. Reboot. No action. No bong.
Reset cuda.
Reboot. No action, no bong.
Put the G4 back in the Beige G3, works like a champ.
Are there some jumpers in this (PCI) G3 B&W machine I am not aware
of. Went to Lowendmac.com, nothing about pins to jumper.
Ideas?
