It's really not so bad (assuming the connection doesn't break in the middle). I'm on dialup and way out in the country so the phone lines limit connect speed to 28.8 no matter what the modem says it's capable of, and slogged on through without any particular grief: the trick is to get the download started then forget all about it and do something else that's entirely unconnected with the computer. Read a book or dig up the garden or (as previously recommended) go to bed.
