My camera(kodak) automatically give the photo a number. My Kodak software separates them by the date. Now I use iphoto. It's pretty handy. I love the drag and drop feature. The only thing I don't like is it quits in the middle of working with it.(sometimes) --- end of quote --- I organize them by date too, but it is a bit of a pain. My Canon s50 (which I love) numbers directories arbitrarily, and I seperate them manually. I had a Minolta which could be set to place photos in dated directories and that was wonderful, the only thing I liked about that camera.
