Hi, something has come up lately that I find puzzling. I use a
G4AIO (that's
a G3AIO that was upgraded to a G4) running Panther (10.3) with a
Lite-On CD
burner. Now I recently bought from eBay a G3 Powerbook Wallstreet
which is
running Jaguar (10.2.8). Now I was thinking, in order to transfer the
various software I have on my AIO to my Wallstreet that I would
burn the
said software onto a CD and then install it in my powerbook.
However, it
seems that a CD burned on Panther does not even show up on the
desktop of a
Jaguar running Powerbook. Is there a way around that problem?
There is nothing different about the CD's that Panther creates. Are
you certain that the Wallstreet's CD reader works? G3 Powerbooks were
plagued with optical drives, particularly DVD/CD drives, that were
prone to failure.
All said, you should be able to simply turn on file sharing and
connect the two via aa crossover ethernet cable, or a regular
ethernet network to transfer files.
