Is there any difference in modem scripts from OS 9.1 and OSX?

While setting up my Beige G3 with OSX for the first time, I had a couple of problems with getting the internal 56K modem working and deleted the Apple/GV 56K modem script in OSX and replaced it with the one from OS 9.1.

On reflection, I shouldn't have done that. My error was compounded of misdiagnoses, impatience, and being a bit flustered since that was my first time to install OSX and it had me a little intimidated.

Anyway, the 9.1 modem script seems to be working fine, although at first it wouldn't show the connect speed and now it does for some reason. Strange. But I'm wondering if I should track down the OSX version, assuming there's any difference.

I tried searching on Apple's support site, but nothing comes up for OSX, modem scripts and the Beige. Plenty of OS 9 and Beige. And iMac or B&W and OSX.

Is there a way to extract the script from the OSX install disks (10.2 and then updated to 10.2.8)? I don't want to run another install somewhere just to get a 20K script.

I used the same script for my old cell phone under either X or 9. It was written by someone else for OS 9 I believe. I never had any problem with it in X that I didn't in 9 (minor things).

It's better to rename on script or the other instead of deleting it.

I haven't had any problem with the script for the Apple modem on two different machines.
