In my quest to move up to a G3 MT from a Performa 6360 (400mhz NewerTech
G3), I picked up a 100GB Maxtor drive at Best Buy.
Only $50, so couldn't pass it up.

I am planning to install Jaguar on the drive so I partitioned
it into 4 parts, one of which is 7.6GB, which I "think" is the
first physical partition, though I really don't know how to tell.

When the drive mounts on the desktop, the partitions show up
numbered from highest to lowest, with the 7.6GB partition at
the bottom. I suppose this makes some sort of logical sense,
but I can't figure the logic.

Did I end up with the "less than 8 gig partition" in the right
place on the drive in order to install OS X?

HELP!

Ken

You'll be able to choose which partition to install OSX when you run the installer from your CD.
You can determine what sizes the partitions are by "getting info" on each.
After the OS is installed, the partition will appear in the number one position.

BTW, I installed on partitions larger than 7.6GB but can't remember how close to 8GB it ended up.

Any reason in particular why you partitioned into four volumes?
