I'm going to assume he got both mixed up, and will take shipping of
$37.51, <snip> so that's a total of $136.51 which translates into
£76.10.
So I might make a bid of around £65 ($116). Postage is only 3 quid
($5.38) so £68 ($121) sounds fair to me... no? Don't forget Mac stuff
in the UK costs far more than in the US.
If Mac stuff is that pricey Over There, I'd say 68 quid wouldn't be an
unreasonable amount to spend.
Hmm, there's an eBay auction
selling an OWC 500MHz CPU in the US for $99 buy it now.
I'd guess you'd get a better performing CPU from Daystar than from OWC,
at least partly due to where they get their chips. And I'd also guess
that 500 MHz (ZIF?) is a G3; no way you'll find a worthwhile G4/500
that cheap. If it *IS* a G4 I'll bet it's a 450 MHz 7400 chip that's
"guaranteed to run stably at 500 MHz" - which it probably will, but it
still wouldn't be as good a choice as the Daystar 466 that started this
whole thread.

I think that upgrade would reduce your bus speed from 100MHz to 66MHz.
Just a heads up on that. Id suggest one that doesnt.

My 300MHz Rev 1's bus speed runs at 100MHz? I was under the impression
it was 66MHz. Aha, thanks for clearing it up!
Yeh, the B&W has 100 MHz system bus. The G4/466 was probably
originally intended for a Beige G3's 66 MHz bus, thus the "odd" speed.
It will almost certainly run just fine at 500 in a B&W.

Yes all blue G3s run stock at 100MHz. anyway, since it was 466mHz, I
thought
it would run on a 66MHz bus. But I guess you can run it with a 100mhz
bus
and 500MHz. <snip> for those of you with hacking desires, as
well as a desire to get a new video card, i instead suggest installing
a sawtooth
board with processor.
Not everyone wants to be bothered with a mobo transplant which requires
some (admittedly minor) case modification; and does a "typical home
user" have any real need for AGP graphics...?
