Thank you Ken, Kathi, Piers and everyone else who offered help. The 
overwhelming sense of hopelessness is gone. After moving all the useless 
programs to the trash, it's moving better than before. It's also a relief to 
know "zombie" is describing the state of a program and not a virus. Thanks 
again everybody
