I have been thinking about a processor upgrade for my 400 B & W.

I find this one attractively priced and a good value.

It claims 100Mhz full bus speed.

I'd like to hear from anyone with experience with this model.

I just installed a new Daystar G4/550+ in a B&W - great product running stably @600 MHz. The retail package includes detailed documentation, plus a fine blade flathead screwdriver and a dab of Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound (and instructions for how to use it)...everything you need for a trouble-free upgrade.

Dunno what's the functional difference between the 550+ and the 600 ZIFs, though. It seems they're both 7410LE's, and they may even both be 500 MHz rated models - info on their website isn't at all clear as to why one is worth $20 more...?

we were just talking about a 100mhz bus daystar upgrade for blue g3s. the consensus was that it was good, as DayStars quality is among (if not) the best.

DayStar has always had top notch upgrades. Up there with Newer
Tech. Better than PowerLogix or Sonnet.

Absolutely! AFAICT they're currently the best choice for ZIF and PowerBook upgrades.

Its just they keep going out of
business. Before they last went out of business they were known as XLR8.

XLR8 is the biz that's had more than one incarnation, not Daystar. Daystar acquired the XLR8 trademark and product line a couple of years ago and though they don't produce the sheer volume of upgrades compared to XLR8's heyday, what they do turn out is top quality, IMNSHO.
