Unfortunatly, they are not. It all depends on if the company that made the chips used on the card release either drivers or the programming specs for the drivers.

There was a discussion on which cards are compatible with OS 10 a while ago, I would check the archives. There is a web site referenced in a post that lists many cards that will work under 10 and the driver used.

I know for a fact that a card that uses the broadcom chipset will work with the Apple supplied Airport drivers. One card that uses this chipset is Buffalo (I have one in my B&W).
