A word about APC and the like. We use them at work, and they work fine, until the battery gives out, and this is a pain to change out. What I find works even better is a line conditioner. I use it home and plug my surge protectors into it. It keeps the power constant, and protects against surges as well. And best of all, it doesn't use batteries.
