Subject: Re: [G] b&w serial ports AWOL

IThe little metal plate covers a spot that you can
install an internal modem specifically made for the
B&W. As far as the absence of serial ports, there
are serial->USB adapters out there. I have a Keyspan
adapter that seems to work ok with my old serial
modem. I think I saw there is something called a
Stealth adapter that does the same thing. The keyspan
adapter cost me $12 on ebay. I think the stealth is
about 30-50$?

There were also cards sold, in the early days of the transition from Old
World to New World Macs, that fit in the modem slot of (for instance) the
B&W, & instead supplied serial ports. I don't remember what they were
called, though. They also existed for the Sawtooth & up G4s (which use
different modem slots), & maybe for the iMac as well, so if you look for 1
be sure to check whether it's for a B&W.
