I have an external 80 GB hard drive (internal WD 80 GB IDE in a $30
USB 2.0 enclosure) that will mount just fine (it's formatted with
NTFS, mounts read-only) on my Beige G3 running OS X 10.3.9. The same
machine also has no trouble using the USB flash memory drives which
come factory with FAT16. I see no reason as to why it wouldn't work at
least to read data from as long as you get your master/slave jumpers
set right.
