Jeff, what SCSI cards are bootable under 10.x??
I have a 3940UW in a linux server that I can swap out if it would do the
trick..
I would much perfer to have my drives running off of fast scsi verses ata/66
ide.. Especially since the scsi's are 36.4 Gig UW 10K drives removed from a
IBM Server... and the IDE is running off of a VST UltraTek/66 since I killed
the main IDE trying to relocate the connector..
Please pardon the double quotes. Apparently I missed this when it
first posted.
I have not kept up with which SCSI cards have OSX firmware, because I
am only using X on a Beige G3 which is acting as a music server for
the house. Other than automatically launching iTunes on boot-up, I
don't use that machine for anything--well and it serves all our
ripped CDs to the Roku Sound Bridge devices on our home network.
Anyway, you pretty much must check the manufacturer sites to see if
they offered OSX firmware updates for a given card. I think that
Apple may have had an update for the 2940U2B because they shipped
that card as an OEM in some Apple machines.
My understanding is that there was no OSX firmware for the Atto UL2D
but maybe there was for the UL3D?
There would not be OSX firmware for the 3940UW because that card is
literarlly two 2940UWs behind a PCI-PCI Bridge on a single card. If
there was firmware for the 3940UW there'd be firmware for the 2940UW.
I have been very impressed with the Acard ATA cards. Acard also
makes SCSI cards, so you may wish to check the Acard offerings. If
their SCSI cards are as good as their ATA cards, they should be very
very good.
You can look at all of Acard's products on their site
<http://www.acard.com> and their US distributers are
