Recently, when I download a .pls file in OS 9, it shows up on my desktop
as a GIF, with a QuickTime icon.

I've checked the Finder mappings for files of the mime-types "audio/scpls"
& "/x-scpls" in both the File Exchange & Internet control panels, as well
as in Mozilla's Helper Apps preferences, & it is definitely set to iTunes
in all those places. I've also checked iTunes' & QT Picture Viewer's own
pref options, which don't seem to involve file mapping options themselves.

When I open these "GIF"s in the Finder it always takes me to QT Picture
Viewer, which says it can't read the files, of course.

Any ideas as to what is causing this weirdness, or what other settings I
can change? Thanks in advance,
