Probably, usually, a low system battery. Can give all sorts of weird
problems, long before it's so low the machine starts forgetting the
time and date.

these beasts are very compact built. The manual tells you what tools
you need.
There are so many iMac models, and they all have different procedures
for take-apart and put-together-again.
