The October issue of MacAddict has a good article explaining fonts. It's talking about Tiger, but the way fonts are handled in Jag are the same.

OS X ONLY uses: Truetype, Opentype and Postscript Type 1 fonts. If you have old bitmap fonts, they'll work in Classic but not OS X.
