Carl,
I would start with PCI Extreme first and remove it if you can get the
video to come back for you. Then try running the computer with the
Radeon card without the hack and see what happens.
I have it installed in B/W G3 running Tiger in which I have a Radeon
and have trouble with the computer having kernal panics from time to
time. Before the installation of the hack, no problems. I have this
hack installed and running on a B/W that's been upgraded to a G4 and
running Tiger without any problems, other than some flicker when I
move the mouse while watching a DVD. The G4 upgrade is not a PL,
however, and it might be that the upgrade might affect how well the
hack works on a given machine. I have a feeling that it's one of
those kind of problems that varies from comp to comp. Hacks are
tricky beasties.
What is it that someone here likes to say? Your mileage may vary
(with the use of the software).

Blue and White with Powerlogix G4/600, 1 Gb ram, 2 40 gig hard
drives, dvdrom, ATI 16 mb video card with dvd decoder running
10.4.2 flawlessly, excellent for movie viewing. Bought a Mac
Edition Radeon 7000 (the one with only vga output) on eBay,
installed it when I got it. Machine booted normally, display
(Apple 20" Multiscan with an adapter to vga) looked good, tried a
dvd movie, got occasional flickering. Decided to shut it down and
go to bed. Next morning, no video-----got active and standby
lights (green and yellow) simultaneously, zapping pram did not
help. Pulled the Radeon, put the ATI Rage back in, same problem.
That evening, hit the CUDA button, tried it, no change. Pulled the
battery and let it sit several minutes, re-installed the battery,
and it booted with video. Let it run for a while, shut it down,
and put the Radeon back in. Started up fine, tried a movie,
excellent playback without any problems. Let the machine run
overnight, tried it this morning, everything great. Came home at 7
o'clock, the problem was back. Went through the same routine as
before, now no video with the original card.
What could be going on here? Should I be getting ready to ask for
a refund for the Radeon, or do I look for other possibilities? I
downloaded and installed the latest ATI drivers and did the
firmware update, trying to rule out that as a possibility. One
remote possibility, though not likely since it looked as though it
uninstalled, is PCI Extreme. I tried it when I first installed the
Radeon, then disabled it when it showed no improvement at all in
Xbench.
I'm pretty well stumped at this point. Any suggestions, help,
constructive criticism welcome.
Thanks,
