Hi Danielle, I can't speak anything about the problem you are having, but...
Have you tried the browser Firefox? Safari is a great browser, but since downloading and installing (the FREE) Firefox browser I have not looked back. I'm actually a "born-again" OS X user. I was previously using a PC with Windows XP as my main computer, and had a few older Macintoshes for other tasks around the house. Within the last year, I have converted completely to Apple hardware and the PC has been demoted to the closet. I quickly became enamored with OS X and how much more solid & stable it felt compared to WinXP. One of the first things that I noticed was the Safari browser and how quick and straightforward it was. A few months ago, I was turned on to a browser called "Firefox". Constantly under development, and free, this browser is not only updated more often than Safari but seems more compatible in general with the web. For example-- while using my Gmail e-mail account under Safari, I get a message at the top of the page that says something like "For full functionality, use a Gmail-compatible browser like Internet Explorer". Some of the user functions within Gmail were even disabled to me because of this. That message disappeared when I started using Firefox. There is even a theme patch to make it look EXACTLY like Safari. I don't use it (the patch), but if that's something you care about, it's available.
