Turn Classic on and I cannot print from OSX or Classic.

This is an issue of Epson drivers in Classic. I've seen this happen with early HP OS X printer drivers.

Ultimately, the solution is to wean yourself from Classic. This means getting OS X versions or equivalents for your OS 9 programs you still use.

Suggestions appreciated.

Adobe 7.0 will not print pdf in either case.

You might be correct, Bruce, that this latter is an Adobe problem.
Judging from the web search, many of the Adobe products are not too happy with OSX.

Make sure you have the latest updates. Try re-installing Acrobat.
