My friend Jim lives just N of Miami. He's also without power, but he
and his neighbor are sharing a generator. It's enough to keep two
small refrigerators and all their computer equipment running - Macs,
PCs, and servers. A big old tree from the neighbor's yard flattened
his fence. The top of the tree is about 2' from his house.
What's the deal with people that buy way-overpriced plywood before
each and every hurricane, then throw it out after? Jim says there
are "scavengers" that collect the wood before the regular trash
pickup - then resell it to people door-to-door?! ...Jim and his
neighbor keep their plywood; they have some sort of brackets
installed to make putting 'em on/off easy.
