Subject: [G] Best Way to Copy Old Drive to New?

What is the best way to transfer all contents of one hard drive to a new
larger one?

The system is a G4 Sawtooth, OS 10.3.9. I plan to install the new ATA drive as a slave until the contents of the present drive are copied. The new drive
will then be configured as master.

Strictly speaking, the terms "master" and "slave" do not apply to your question. These terms relate to how the computer hardware deals with the hard drives. A drive is master or slave by virtue of the physical jumper settings on the back end of the drive. This has nothing do do with how you use the drives and what you put on them. While you cannot have two masters or two slaves on one bus cable, the slave can handle your OS and data just as well as the master.
