If they're from a B&W they aren't AGP, they're PCI.
As an owner of three B&W I can assure you the video card is PCI. AGP
showed up in the G4 Sawtooth, 2x, IIRC.
BTW, I've also heard it said on this list that the decoder card
only works
in the 66 MHz slot in a B&W, & not (presumeably) on a beige G3,
which only
has the 33 MHz slot, although the Rage 128 card will run fine
otherwise.
I'm running a Rage 128, with decoder card, in my beige, & the
(patched)
Apple DVD Player 2.7 plays DVD movie disks just fine under OS 9, as
well
as X (with VideoLAN Client). What's wrong with this picture?
As you have discovered, experience has taught you that what you have
heard is incorrect.
(By "fine" I mean with the occasional drop-off of sound or picture,
once
in a while, & the occasional bogus warning that I have to change the
region on the DVD drive, & that there are 4 more changes. That usually
just goes away, on the rare occasions when it pops up, if I just
play on.
Just so you know...)
Not so surprising. A PCI vid hack I use in my B&W that enables QE
does the same with regards to artifacts when the mouse is moved.
That and an occasional kernal panic, have frustrated me enough to
upgrade the machine to a G4, now without any issues. Your PCI bus
speed may by the cause of the drop-off.
