If you emptied the trash from a removable and then removed the removable, be
it a Zip or Floppy or whatever, you won't be able to empty the trash until
you put the removable media back in. It has been awhile since I did this,
but I remember that it was a mess when I finally put the media back in after
doing a force emptying. Rule of thumb: always empty the trash before
removing your disk.
