Speaking of dual processors, is there any way to tell by looking on the motherboard whether or not a G4 Mac has a dual or single processor? Or its speed (MHz?). The reason I ask is that I'm going to attend an auction of maybe a dozen G4's (CPU's only, without hard drives, keyboards, or mice) and any evaluation of same will have to be by simply looking them over, inside and out. How can a guy spot the more desirable features of a G4 (faster chip, multi- processors, etc.) just by eyeballing its innards? What should I look for in these G4's?
The easiest way is to look at the sticker on the back (usually under the power plugs) that details the original factory build. It will say "DP" in the proc description if it's a dual. For instance my dual 500mhz G4 reads:
DP500MHZ / 2X 1MB CACHE / 64MB SDRAM / 20GB HD / DVD GIGABIT ENET / MDM / MAC OS / KYBRD Barring that, the dual has a much bigger heatsink covering the procs ;-) - Dylan -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
