First, stay away from Matt's Script Archive. Though there might be
one or two bits in there that could be vaguely useful, some of his
scripts are downright dangerous - specifically, his email script is
easy prey for spammers.
Typically I do a search on the type of script and its intended
function. For instance:
php sendmail
or
javascript menu
You can often find good, working, cross platform script sets at SourceForge.net
There are a ton of javascript sites out there... some good, some
questionable. Be sure to test whatever you use on a variety of
browsers and platforms to make sure they work.
Also, check around to make sure whatever script you're thinking of
using hasn't already been compromised. I'm sorry to say that my
favorite javascript for creating an email link on a web page (rather
than the more secureable email contact form) can be compromised...
I've seen spam come through on an otherwise unpublished address that
we just put up a month or so ago.
