Have you been to SF before? If not, you may want to scope out mass transit: http://www.ci.sf.ca.us/site/citizen_index.asp?id=14497 ...and get an idea of how it works. The "BART" (Bay Area Rapid Transit) referred to above is the Bay Area's version of the subway (sort of...). "Muni" controls buses within the city itself, so you may want to look at their routes, schedules, etc. at the link above before you embark on your trip. > Wear good walking shoes. Thanks to the local "homeless advocates," there are some rather unique and interesting people on the streets of SF. If you're not careful, you may indeed find yourself in an exciting and challenging dialogue with one of these individuals. That's not to say that a good time can't be had (it can). As with any large city, it simply calls for putting your Game Face on and paying attention to your surroundings. Macworld means Mad Schwag; it might be a good idea to have your son make a trip or two back to the hotel room during the day to drop things off.
