Although SANS is a well known org, this is my personal opinion: I'm sure Mac OS X attacks will be on the rise, because more and more people are using it. Because of the open source base, however, any underlying security holes will be fixed much more often. As attacks may be on the rise with more people using it,
so will security fixes, because more and more holes will be found with more
people using it.
Microsoft has lately been really pushing and making a huge deal about windows
being better then Linux in the server market. Awhile back I took a marketing
class from Microsoft called 'Beating the open source market' or something like
that, designed to teach you how to convince potential customers to use one of
the latest versions of Windows Server instead of Linux. Extremely biased,
IMHO. But either way, I think OS X is going to be comparable to Windows and
linux in it's vulnerabilities. Microsoft may fix ones that are big quicker
because they have the resources, but they don't have the open source backing
others do.

I didn't read the article in great depth but with what they had to say about Mac, it made me wonder if the hooplah over Windows vulnerabilities has much merit.
I mean there are about a half dozen variants of Windows out there.
But I aint got none of 'em so.....

another pointless post from

I just read the article and it doesn't really *say* anything. At
least that I could pick up. Yes, we all know Windows is open to all
those bugs and such but I think I'd consider the source....it's on
MSNBC! Do we all know what the MS stands for? MicroSoft! They're
just throwing chimpanzee poop. I'll believe it when it see it.
