So far today I have gotten 5 copies of the [EMAIL PROTECTED] worm, all
from different senders. I pity the people that are having their
computers ravaged by this being sent out from it.

People sending me viruses (yes, that's the proper plural from what I
understand) worries me a lot less than the whole Sony "rootkit on a
CD"-thing. Not only did it install software on a PC that EUs weren't aware
of, but it deliberately cloaked itself to make it harder to find.

Worse, the security companies that people pay good money to to catch such
things took a lot longer than they should have to deal with it.

And Sony *might* be planning to try to do the same thing to Macs. At least,
according to the below. With any luck, the hue and cry over their
shenanigans will make them think twice about trying anything like that
again, but you never know.

The whole fiasco has me so glad I don't use Windows! But, in any case, I think the best advice is: "never install software from somewhere that you didn't expect to find software... like audio CDs."
