Your monitors are getting old, I had to retire an otherwise awesome Applevision 850 because when I took the photos I worked on the computer to the lab they would come out all different.

It simply had gotten too dim and couldn't be calibrated.

Got a B&W CRT (unfortunately only 17") and things got better.

Cheers
Andrea

what you need to do is calibrate each monitor/card combo to the same
external standard. Using the same profile on two different monitors

Apple's built in calibration, check the advanced box at the
beginning, this lets you tweak it more.

IAC, though getting two different cards and two different monitors to
match is a painstaking process, best handled with external hardware

I did manual calibration on both monitors. The differences are guite large.
I'm not after perfect match here but I'd like a ballpark.

These monitors are at work. At home I use a Spyder to calibrate, though I still
don't get a perfect match on two seperate size trinitrons.

Odsd thing is that Photoshop 7 (in os 9..2.2) dosn't like the profile from the operating system claibration. I get a window saying the profile is faulty and I should calibrate again. And the whites are yellow. I've repeated calibration
several times and got the same results.

Another odd thing is that on both monitors, with maximum contrast and maximum brightness, you still can't see the difference between the halves of the square, nor the oval in the calibration window. It comes up all black. The only other setting on the monitor that could affect this is color temp. I've tried setting them and 6500 (which the Spyder prefers when I use it) and at 9300, whihc seems
to work better. Neither shows the halves as anything less than black.

These are nice monitors with trinitron tubes. What is going on here?
