Yes it does, and it's the only way I could find to easily go back and  
forth between OS 9 and OS X on my Beige G3.

I wonder, does that mean that you can't select an ATA slave drive as a
startup disk (which you can't do anyway on a beige G3), or that you can't
run System Disk Utility from an ATA drive? Maybe that's why the originator
of this thread couldn't choose the X drive?
